During 2011 I had the pleasure of working closely with Show Me The Way. Chris Maguire and Lola Forester at SMTW run mentorship programs for indigenous teenagers. My role was to help the kids shoot and edit a short video of a role model in their community. We ran the workshops in Brisbane, Wollongong, Adelaide and Sydney. It was a great experience and I look forward to doing it again this year
I’ve been busy shooting timelapse with my new rig for a couple of different documentary projects. Unfortunately I can’t show any of it until the shows go to air, so instead I’ll share this little blast for the past. A short video I shot while I was at home for Christmas a few years ago. I really should get down there more often.
I ordered a dolly a while ago to add a bit of movement to my timelapse shots, but I’ve been too busy to try it out. I finally got around to knocking off some shots and I’m very impressed with the results. Looking forward to venturing a bit further from the house next time and shooting more timelapse in Sydney and beyond.
I’ve been flat out for the last few months. Editing Jabba’s Curious World for National Geographic Channel kept me busy, but I found time to work on some other projects as well.
Seeker Lover Keeper filmed a trio of music videos to promote their new self-titled album. I was the behind-the-scenes cameraman on the day, documenting Barry Otto, Aden Young and John Waters as they mimed the girls’ songs. It was alot of fun and the behind the scenes video, edited by Matthew Walker, can be viewed here.
Along For The Ride, a documentary about my roadtrip across the USA, is a personal project I’ve been working on for a while. I recently completed a test claymation animation for the film. You can watch the trailer for Along For The Ride here, and the claymation video is below. Sound design by the excellent David Perry.
Just posted a couple of new timelapse compilations in the Portfolio section. Outback Skies is footage I shot while working on a documentary on a cattle station in remote Northern Territory. It showcases the vast beauty of life in the outback and is our first foray into astro timelapse photogrpahy. Beaches and Helicopters also includes some clips from the Northern Territory, but is mainly timelapse from in and around Bondi Beach in Sydney, which was shot for Bondi Rescue.
We’ve been busy the last few weeks covering some awesome parties that have been happening around Sydney. First was the DIY Daft Punk party, hosted by Bucknell Massive. A good crowd showed up and they went all out, with helmets, projections, lighting rigs and a pyramid!
We were also on the invite list for indie band The Keep Secrets’ house party. The band, originally from the Blue Mountains, recently moved to Marrickville and have plans to start recording and gigging around town.
‘Along for the Ride’ chronicles the journey of two strangers as they travel together across the United States in an old Volkswagen. From blown head gaskets in Pennsylvania to ice climbing in Colorado, this documentary follows Tim and Nils on their adventure as the five day road trip turns into a month-long comedy of errors.
Kick the Bread is currently editing a feature length version of ‘Along for the Ride’ with release slated for November 2011. You can watch the trailer below.
